Rules.

Battle of the Bands Rules, Regulations, and Scoring Criteria

​

1) Bands must submit entry form found on NAD/ BOND's (here) website and submitted by June 15th 2017 latest.

 

2) Band must be prepared to play a set of at least 15 minutes but not to exceed 25 minutes or at the discretion of the BOND Committee, the sets may be shortened based on the size of entries. All entries should keep in mind, this is a “FAMILY EVENT” and all material MUST be appropriate or grounds for immediate removal from show as deemed by BOND Committee / Judges Panel. • For every minute exceeding the 25 minute limit, the band will be penalized 5 points from their total score.

 

3) All competing bands are strongly encouraged to promote spreading the word regarding the Battle of the Bands event and the related N.A.D. festivities as crowd interaction and response will be part of the judging criteria.

 

4) Any distasteful behavior, and/or damage to DOUBLEBOOKED PRODUCTIONS equipment or supplies will result in an automatic disqualification at the hands of BOND committee and judges. FULL PAYMENT or payment arrangement will be made upon any incident.

 

5) Judging is done on a 1 -10 per category scale by 3 judges. The 3 criteria on which the bands will be judged are explained below. A big part will be crowd reaction. How loud can you make our show area. BRING YOUR FANS!!!

 

6) A "Performer" consists of many different things. For these events, we require both instrumental and vocal performance; a band of 8 or a solo act, both are allowed as long as they sing and play at least one instrument.

 

7) BOND Committee & DOUBLEBOOKED PRODUCTIONS will not be held accountable for any broken equipment, injuries, or any other negative occurrences outside of our staff’s control.

8) At least one member MUST be Aboriginal or be supporting or promoting Aboriginal Culture along with RESPECT ALL aspects of National Aboriginal Day Events and rules.

9) This is a NO Drug & Alcohol Event. Zero tolerance. Violations will result in removal from event and appropriate police action.

 

Judging Scale and Criteria:

 

1) Music & Stage Presence (This criteria is based on clarity, lyrical content and overall musical performance along with how well the band "rocks out")  

1-10 per Judge x 3 possible 30 Total

2) Crowd Interaction & Crowd Applause (The key ingredient to rock stardom: how well the band connects with the crowd)

1-10 per Judge x 3 possible 30 Total

3) Culture (This criterion is based on the overall look and personality and Aboriginal Culture presented by the band through song, dance, dress or lyrics.)

1-10 per Judge x 3 possible 30 Total

4) Wild Card (Our Sound Tech has worked in the music business for over 20 years and will be awarding up to a 10 point bouns for professionisum, over all sound and the "wow factor")

1-10 Bonus based on Sound Tech possible 10 Total

Each Band has a possible Perfect score of 100 Points... the highest score wins

  • ARRIVE ON TIME FOR LOAD IN

  • BRING INSTRUMENT AND ALL PERSONL WIRES NEEDED ( ¼ PATCH CORDS / FOOT PETALS/ EFFECTS )

  • SET UP & TEAR DOWN IN TIME SLOT

  • BEING IN TUNE BEFORE GOING ON STAGE PLEASE

  • MUST BRING OWN KICKERS PLZ

  • ONCE FINISHED SET REMOVE ALL PERSON GEAR BEFORE ANY THING ELSE

  • 2 AMP HEADS 100W

  • 2 DI BOXES (FOR ACUOSTIC GUITARS OR KEYBOARDS)

  • 5 PIECE DRUM KIT (MUST BRING OWN KICKERS PLZ)

  • 4 CYMBOLS ( 1RIDE, 2 CRASH, HIGH HATS)

  • 3 VOCAL MICS & STANDS

  • 4 MONITORS 200W

  • 8 YORKVILLE FOH 600W X 8

  • 8000W POWER AMP

  • 2 POWERED SUBS 2500W X 2

  • 24 CHANNEL SNAKE

  • 18 CHANNEL BOARD
